The Space

Hackney Room is a 700 sq ft creative studio in the heart of Hackney Downs’ Eat Work Art community. Soaring exposed ceilings, white brick walls and clean concrete floors give you a blank canvas with raw industrial character — and three fully blackout skylights put light entirely in your hands, from bright natural daylight to total darkness in seconds. Whether you’re shooting a campaign, filming, rehearsing or hosting, the space adapts to your vision. And when you wrap, independent restaurants, bars and galleries are right on your doorstep.

Screenings, Performances & Workshops

We can also turn the studio into an intimate screening room. One purpose-built freestanding white screen with our Epson EB-L895U, a 5,000-lumen laser projector, to deliver a cinema-grade image, and with the skylights blacked out, the room drops into perfect darkness. Host a private film screening for up to 25 guests, drench a live performance in immersive visuals, or run a workshop where your work fills an entire wall. It’s a rare setup at this scale in London — and it turns any gathering into an experience.

The Neighbourhood

The studio sits inside the Eat Work Art yard at Hackney Downs — a courtyard of studios, independent food and a community radio station. Grab lunch at Tom’s Deli, catch a set outside Subtle Radio, or take the shoot out into the yard.
